Pearson Educational Measurement Expanding in Virginia Beach, Adding Scoring Facility

Company Seeking 350 Full-Time Seasonal Positions For Assessment Scoring

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Feb. 21, 2007 – Pearson Educational Measurement, the largest provider of state and national educational assessment solutions, today announced it was expanding its operations in Virginia Beach by opening a second, temporary scoring facility, and seeking to hire 350 full-time “seasonal” positions for this year’s educational scoring cycle. 

Pearson has maintained a scoring facility in Virginia Beach for five years, located at 2901 Sabre Street.  The new temporary facility, located across the street, is opening to handle additional scoring projects.

Pearson is seeking 350 people for work beginning March 19.  Applicants must have a four-year bachelors degree, be able to work full-time for four to five weeks, with the possibility of additional work through July.  Compensation is $12 an hour. 

 “We’re delighted to expand our scoring operations in Virginia Beach,” said Kate Minette, senior vice president, operations, scoring and quality, at Pearson Educational Measurement’s Iowa City, Iowa headquarters.  “Virginia Beach has been a good location for us because of the diverse and educated workforce that we need to score student exams.”
