Pearson has Scoring Supervisor positions open at all regional scoring centers.
Basic Purpose and Objectives
Functions as Supervisor of professional scorers for a subject-related open-ended scoring project, e.g. reading, writing, mathematics, or science. This position is hired on a temporary basis, project to project. Each project lasts anywhere from 2-8 weeks.
Organizational Relationships
Direction Received: Supervision in daily work assignments and special assignments received from Scoring Directors.
Direction of Others: Provides leadership, training, and guidance to professional scoring personnel in assigned areas.
Major Responsibilities
- Supervises professional scorers: monitors attendance, assigns tasks, insures quality of work and recommends actions for improvement.
- Maintains departmental procedures and specifications required by ISO 9000.
- Oversees teams of usually 6-14 scorers and provides support in matters of content as well as practical daily tasks such as filling out timesheets.
- Monitors the team and individual scorers in terms of accuracy, reliability and rate.
- Performs backreading duties and monitors second scoring. Notes any scorers who are having difficulty and provides additional training as required.
- Works with Scoring Directors to monitor and document performance issues with professional scorers.
- Makes recommendations for future Scoring Supervisors.
- Monitors work flow and supplies and keeps materials in order.
- Participates in selection, reading, and rating of responses for range-finding.
- Participates in preparation of reader training materials.
- Maintains up-to-date record of all scoring decisions.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Previous scoring experience preferred.
- Teaching experience preferred.
