Pearson Educational Measurement Opens New Scoring Facility

CHAMPAIGN, ILL., Feb. 1, 2007 – Pearson Educational Measurement, the largest comprehensive provider of state and national educational assessment solutions, today announced it has opened a new scoring facility in downtown Champaign.  The company began operations on January 23.  

The new scoring facility, consisting of over 12,000 square feet of space, is located at Church Street Square on the corner of Randolph and Church streets. The facility will be open seasonally and is used for scoring open-ended test questions from K-12 student assessment exams for a number of Pearson Educational Measurement state clients from around the country. At its peak, the scoring center will employ 400 people working in two shifts. 

“We’re delighted to open a scoring center in Champaign,” said Kate Minette, senior vice president, operations, scoring and quality, at Pearson Educational Measurement’s Iowa City, Iowa headquarters.  “We were attracted to Champaign because of the diverse and educated workforce that we need to score these exams.” 

Pearson Educational Measurement operates 16 scoring centers around the country and also has testing facilities in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Austin, Texas.
