Pearson Educational Measurement’s Karen Squires Elected President of Academy of Computer Science for the University of Missouri-RollaIOWA CITY, Iowa – June 6, 2007 – Pearson Educational Measurement today announced that Karen Squires, vice president of Test and Measurement Services, was elected president of the Academy of Computer Science for the University of Missouri-Rolla. Established in 2003 to recognize the university’s esteemed graduates, the academy provides advisory guidance and counsel to the chair, faculty and students of computer science, and its members mentor current students through personal and professional example. Members of the academy are selected from more than 3,500 of the program’s graduates for demonstrating outstanding leadership, significant levels of professional achievement and high standards of personal and professional integrity. Squires, a resident of Iowa City, is a 1989 graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla. She joined Pearson Educational Measurement in 1999 as director of Information Technology Services and currently manages the K-12 large-scale assessment item and test development group and oversees the financial and business affairs for the Test and Measurement Services division. Squires joined the fledgling Test and Measurement Services group in 2002 and helped build it to the more than 250-person group that it is today. “I am honored to be elected to this position and look forward to continuing the academy’s dedication to the computer science program at the University of Missouri-Rolla, its current students and its graduates,” said Squires. “My technical degree from the university gave me a strong base in computer science and information technology concepts.
