Pearson Educational Measurement Launches Assessment Blog

TrueScores Weblog Offers Perspectives on Test and Measurement Practices

IOWA CITY, Iowa – June 21, 2005 – Pearson Educational Measurement (PEM) todayannounced the launch of its testing and assessments weblog, TrueScores, offering commentary and insight from experts about psychometrics and test and measurement practices.

The blog, available at www.TrueScores.com, provides timely commentary and insight about educational assessment topics. Complementing its expanded research efforts, PEM intends to use the TrueScores blog as a forum for the dissemination and discussion of information on the topical issues in today's educational measurement world such as performance standards and online testing.

Background related to some of these topics can be found on PEM’s website at www.pearsonedmeasurement.com/research. Research will be added periodically to the site and PEM will use the TrueScores blog to communicate these additions, point to other relevant research and highlight key issues.

“The purpose of the TrueScores blog is to provide candid opinions on recent trends shaping our educational policy,” said Jon S. Twing, Ph.D., vice president of test and measurement services for Pearson Educational Measurement. “Its goal is to provide practical and applied insights into all aspects of educational measurement.”

With a staff of industry-recognized experts in psychometrics, assessment development and research, Pearson Educational Measurement offers a diverse perspective on research related to educational measurement. Seventeen doctorate-level psychometricians with a combined experience of more than a century provide both the talent and experience to support PEM’s customers in this changing world of education reform.

PEM contributors to the blog include noted psychometricians Jon Twing, Denny Way, Paul Nichols and other PEM experts who share their own viewpoints.
